   McHenry County Canicross & Dog Sports (MCCX) brings people and dogs together through canicross, hiking, group outings, and other beginner-friendly activities. MCCX also hosts the local Rescue Runner Program, connecting approved volunteers with rescue dogs for exercise, enrichment, and greater adoption visibility.

Rescue Runner charitable fundraising is overseen by Herzog’s Heroes, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

  Welcome K9 Kylo and his partner, Deputy Wisniewski, of the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office to McHenry County Dog Daze! K9 Kylo is a German Shepherd born in Germany and works alongside Deputy Wisniewski as part of the Sheriff’s Office K9 team.

Attendees will have the opportunity to see this incredible team in action and learn more about the important role police K9s play in our community.

   McHenry County Dog Daze will feature a special appearance by Scout, a beagle rescued from Ridglan Farms laboratory breeding operations in Wisconsin.

Scout’s rescue came during a highly publicized effort involving beagles connected to Ridglan, a story that drew national attention and renewed discussion about the use of dogs in laboratory research.

Now beginning a new chapter, Scout will be at Dog Daze as a living reminder of resilience, second chances, and why advocacy matters.
